Body Piercing Aftercare

Clean your piercing twice a day with a mild anticrobial soap such as Provon. With clean hands, work the soap gently around and into the piercing with your fingertips or a Q-tips with warm water. Your piercing will generally crust up during the healing process in between cleanings. This is normal, but you do need to clean this off your piercing, rinse all the soap off and out of your piercing and do not touch it until your next cleaning.

Sea salt soaks can help speed up the healing process. Use a pinch of non-iodized sea salt with a cup of warm to hot water cup the solution under your piercing and let soak for 3-5 minutes once a day. For piercings that can not be soaked with a cup, you may use a Q-tip with the solution and clean it as you would with soap. Rinse of your piercing afterwards.

DO NOT put excessive pressure on the your piercing with tight clothing or by sleeping on it. This will cause your piercing to migrate and possibly reject from your skin.

DO NOT submerge your piercing in water until its fully healed. This includes, pools, Jacuzzis and even bathtubs.

Oral Piercing Aftercare
Rinse your mouth out with an alcohol-free antimicrobial mouthwash such as Tech 2000 after meals and smoking. If you do smoke, quitting or at least cutting down will speed up the healing process.

As soon as possible, start keeping ice in your mouth as much as possible until your swelling goes down (this is an ABSOLUTE MUST for tongue piercing)

Sea salt rinses can help speed up the healing process. Use a pinch of non-iodized sea salt with a cup of warm to hot water and rinse your mouth out. Only use mildly warm water the first week.

DO NOT engage in any sexual activity with your fresh piercing until it is fully healed (even open mouthed kissing.)
If you just got your tongue pierced, avoid foods that are hot or spicy for a few days.

Things to remember:

If the jewelry is threaded, (straight, curved or circular barbell, labret stud, etc.)
Tighten your jewelry after cleaning with clean hands to prevent loss of your jewelry and even piercing.

If you have a captive bead , there is nothing to tighten.
Be very gentle with your piercing while its healing Do not play with or touch your piercing without washing your hands at any time.

Also, do not over-clean your piercing, it will lead to irritation and possible swelling.
A lot of times certain piercing are pierced with longer jewelry then you need when they are healed. This is to compensate for any swelling that may occur. As well as make it easier to clean your piercing.

Once your piercing is completed you may change your jewelry to something shorter if you prefer.. DO not change your jewelry before your healed, this may result in irritation, swelling prolonging of the healing process.
Healing times are approximate, you may heal before the estimated time or go over it, not everyone body heal the same, so dont worry if you are not healed after the approximate time.
